Raw Writing is the home of Carla Jenkins, a writer and teacher living in Exeter, Devon. Carla’s debut novel, Fifty Minutes, will be published by Hachette as one of their key titles in May 2024, with her second novel due for publication the year after.

As well as teaching, Carla is currently continuing with her study, now for a PhD in Creative Writing at the University of Exeter, where she received a distinction for a Masters in Creative Writing in 2021.

In the last three years, Carla has been placed in international and UK competitions for short story, life writing and the novel.

Carla is passionate about how writing can be used to make you feel better, which is basically why she writes: “…It has made me feel better. In fact, I’d go as far to say it has saved my life.”
