Historical fiction remains one of the most popular and beloved forms of storytelling. They say the past is a different country: historical fiction immerses us into worlds otherwise inaccessible and, through exploring and imagining long dead lives, offers insight into our time and can help us make sense of our lives.
Taking the Introduction to Historical Fiction at Raw Writing will help you with your research, which can seem overwhelming at first, but we’ll talk about how to determine what to look for and how to find it. We’ll also discuss the pull of the anecdote and what to do with so much material. We’ll determine when it is time to stop researching and start writing. We’ll also consider how to keep momentum and, how to respect the past and yet make it relevant to contemporary sensibilities.
