Wednesday January 14th, 21st, 28th January and 4th February 19.00-20.30
This four-week course is for anyone interested in the craft of lyric writing.
This fun, practical and creative course will provide opportunities for:
· Writing original lyrics for songs, musicals and any situation that calls for a lyric
· Learning what makes certain great lyrics ‘tick’ and how to write your own
· Exploring techniques to find your flow, unleash everyday creativity, overcome your inner critic and just write
In the fourth and final week of the course, there’ll be an exciting opportunity to perform your lyrics live at a venue in the city to your peers, family and friends. No pressure, though; you’ll be supported to do this, and it’s optional. If it feels good, go for it or just enjoy a fun, social, grand finale to the course!
Open to all. You don’t need to be a musician and no instruments (or ability!) are needed. It’s all about the lyrics!
This course is led by Dr James Tarling, who brings more than fifteen years of experience teaching songwriting and research into creativity. James comes from a creative industry background, having previously secured music publishing and record deals with his music featured on Radio 2 and at The Cannes Film Festival. He is a Times Education Supplement’ Highly Recommended’ Teacher of the Year and has a record due this year on Hungersleep Records.
